Steve Aoki and Sub Zero Project have released their festival-ready “Promises” remake.
After a season of road testing on stages at Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, and Ultra Miami, and beyond, the reimagined version of NERO’s 2011 electro-dubstep classic amplifies one of electronic music’s most recognizable anthems with main-stage magnitude, preserving the emotion of the original while ripping through new bass drops, high-speed breaks, and hard dance kicks.
“There’s a fine line between playing tribute to a classic and giving it a new identity, and that’s what made this collaboration with Sub Zero Project so exciting,” Aoki said in a statement. “We wanted to preserve what made ‘Promises’ so memorable while giving it a completely new perspective.
“The track really found itself through the live shows,” he continued. “Every time we played it, the crowd showed us where to keep pushing it. By the time we finished the record, it had already taken on a life of its own, and that’s when you know you’ve created something special.”
The track arrives amid another landmark year for Sub Zero Project, as the hard dance duo continues to bring their signature sound to global audiences on their 2026 “Our World” tour. Meanwhile, Aoki’s Dim Mak Records celebrates its landmark 30th anniversary this year, with the label boss helping commemorate three decades of label influence across several special events, festival takeovers, and his ongoing “Dim Mak 30” tour.
