Seattle-based producer and DJ, Subset, has been found safe following his disappearance nearly two weeks ago.
Subset—real name Mark Martinez—was reported missing on November 22 after failing to show up for his gig at Seattle’s Q Nightclub.
Thankfully, Martinez’s sister Diane announced yesterday that she has made contact with Mark, after an extensive search of the greater Seattle area by the Seattle Police Department and local residents.
“I am so relieved to inform you all that I’ve made contact with Mark and he is safe,” she wrote in a Facebook group created to aid in search efforts.
“I can’t thank you enough for your search efforts, support, and respect,” she continued. “The last week and a half has been incredibly difficult for us all, but we got through it together and now we can breathe easy knowing Mark is OK. This community means so much to me and my family.”
Martinez’s disappearance was met with an outcry of concern from members of the dance music community, who helped search efforts with online appeals in addition to boots on the ground in Washington.
Martinez has long been a well-respected figure in the industry, playing annually at events like Camp Bisco, Holy Ship! and Burning Man, as well as hosting weekly parties at NYC’s Webster Hall; working as a Media Manager for Lost Lands; and capturing the attention of fans during the pandemic with his marathon DJ sets on Twitch.
The location in which Martinez was found and the context of his disappearance remain unclear. His family has requested privacy at this time.
