Subtronics Came Out The Gate Swinging At His First Cyclops Dome

Renowned riddim maestro and internet troll, Subtronics, hosted the first annual Cyclops Dome at Tacoma Dome on November 24-25 2023.

Feeling winter cast it’s shadow on Washington state, Subtronics brought an inferno of heat to Tacoma for an extraordinary weekend of music.

With support from MARAUDA, Of The Trees, Lil Texas, Black Carl! B2B Austeria and many more, the lineup was stacked from beginning to end.

With a capacity size double that of the Hampton Coliseum, the Tacoma Dome was the perfect spot to host nearly 20,000 headbanging riddim rats throughout the two-day event.

Also home to events like Excision‘s Thunder Dome, the event venue defended its reputation as a legendary electronic venue. The Tacoma Dome is quickly becoming a bucket list venue for music lovers across the board.

The expansive layout of the venue gave room to dance and play without running into other ravers, which happens too often at indoor events.

Not to mention that Subtronics’ lasers were nothing short of mind-blowing. Every single beat drop was paired with hundreds of lights and streams of color perfectly timed to create visual and audio ecstasy.

I go to a lot of Subtronics shows and this production was one of the best I’ve seen.

The unique hypnotic visuals for the LED screens behind his decks elevated the psychedelic journey to a whole new level.

Particularly noteworthy for me, personally, were the projections of Subtronics, (real name Jesse Kardon) playing live on the display. The passion and intensity he poured into his performance enthralled the crowd, and you could see the love he has for the community written all across his face.

For night one, Jesse focused on showcasing his newer tunes while night two was dedicated to some iconic throwback tracks.

In a refreshing new approach, he didn’t have his typical deck-hopping ADHD style. It was really special to hear some of my favorite songs played out live in their entirety without the abrupt shifts between tracks.

The king of VIPs premiered his new Rezz collab, a “Mind Pluck” VIP, “Omnidirectional” VIP, and a MAURAUDA collab.

Jesse has a knack for creating an intimate connection with his fans; always offering something new and sneaking glimpses into what’s next from Subtronics. Cyclops Dome was no exception. From VIPs to new artist collaborations, the night was engaging and full of suspense.

One memory I will hold near and dear to my heart is swaying left to right with my best friends, tears in my eyes, signing “Into Pieces” at the top of my lungs just to immediately go zero to one hundred when the beat dropped.

The love from everyone in that crowd lifted my spirits and made me so grateful for the EDM community we have built for ourselves.

Cyclops Dome has become Subtronics’ new baby and it’s obvious how much time and attention he put into bringing an unforgettable night to his fans.

After the finale, the DJ announced his 2024 dates for Cyclops Dome which will occur on November 14, 15, and 16 2024. See you next year!
