When popular TikToker Grech coined the term “sploinky music” in a viral video last month, bassheads the world over knew exactly what to do: call Subtronics.
The mind-bending producer, and purveyor of all sounds weird and wubby, has now released his anticipated new single, “Sploinky Dub,” sampling Grech’s beloved quip to the delight of dubstep enthusiasts everywhere.
Fans have been begging for the track’s official release for weeks after Subtronics responded to Grech’s post with a video of his own, showcasing his production of the riddim track, which involved “adding in a ‘spoink’ here,” “some bleeps and bloops there,” “a cute little intro thing real quick,” and “a siren to pull it all together.”
Titled after the TikTok video that started it all, “Sploinky Dub” lands today on Subtronics’ own Cyclops Recordings label, following its full-length premiere during the artist’s headline set at Forbidden Kingdom last weekend.
As Subtronics continues his busy summer touring schedule, the new track is sure to be a fan-favorite moment in massive sets to come at festivals like Electric Forest, Escapade Music Festival, Veld, HARD Summer, Elements Festival, Lost Lands and more.
