Sunset Music Festival Will Take A Year Off In 2024

Tampa, Florida’s Sunset Music Festival will not return in 2024.

Organizers shared the news in a statement on social media yesterday, writing that the decision to take a year off will ensure Sunset’s return “exceeds expectations,” most notably with a new venue in 2025.

The festival, which historically takes place over Memorial Day weekend in the parking lot outside Raymond James Stadium, had not yet announced a lineup or ticket sales for 2024.

“Our rebranding journey, which includes a move to a fresh venue in 2024, has been full of excitement,” reads Sunset’s statement. “While we had hoped to unveil the new venue this year, it’s now clear it won’t be ready until 2025.”

Organizers confirmed that Sunset Music Festival’s home will remain in Florida, responding to social media comments speculating that the event could leave the state or move to Orlando’s Central Florida Fairgrounds.

The fairgrounds, which have hosted previous events from Sunset promoter Disco Donnie Presents, are notably home to Insomniac‘s Forbidden Kingdom bass festival. The venue also hosted Insomniac’s Skyline Orlando festival in 2021 and 2022, held on the same dates as Sunset both years.

Feeding additional speculation about Sunset’s future, touring dance music festival Breakaway will make its debut in Tampa next month.

Sunset’s most recent edition—its 11th overall—was held on May 27 and 28, 2023 and featured performances from acts such as Rezz, LSDREAM, Chris Lake and SLANDER. After expanding its program to three days for Sunset’s 10th anniversary in 2022, the festival downsized to two days in 2023.
