Zeds Dead’s Altered States just added a cinematic new piece to their discography with Suray Sertin’s latest EP, Overcome.
Overcome is a collection of captivating genres including house, garage, and melodic, crafted from Sertin’s merging of influences, personal experiences, and artistic expression.
The record relays the artist’s triumphs and struggles, taking the listener through his journey of resilience and growth.
Every track is dreamy, from the somber and smooth “Wait For Me” and “Someday,” to the bouncy “You Left Me” and “Overfreezing,” and the emotional “Nobody (Together).”
Montreal-based Suray Sertin has an aesthetic completely his own, blending “house, soulful electronic, chillwave, and pop.”
He was first enamored by electronic music after listening to “The Wave” by Cosmic Gate, and in high school, he heard Skrillex’s “First of the Year,” turning the love into an obsession and inspiring him to start producing.
Since then, Sertin has become a rising star on Zeds Dead’s newest label, Altered States.
Speaking about the EP on his social media, Sertin said, “After so many late nights, creative bursts, and tons of love poured into this project, I’m excited to finally share it with the world. Working on these tracks felt like weaving fragments of my soul into every beat, sound, melody…with that said, go and dive into this world.”
