Swavé Blends Tech House With Afrobeat On New Single, “Weekend”

Swavé

Swavé has released his new single, “Weekend.”

Arriving today, February 28, and marking the Los Angeles-based artist’s first release of 2025, the dynamic new groove sees Swavé fuse high-energy tech house with slick Afrobeat rhythms to create a moment of tropical dancefloor paradise.

Whether you’re gearing up for a night out or winding down after a long week, “Weekend” sets the mood. Overflowing with soulful guitar melodies and island-inspired instrumentals cut with a thumping four-on-the-floor beat, the track charts a course straight for the beach, underscoring the producer’s Latin house flavor and showcasing his genre-melding approach to beat-making.

Pulling influence from a host of global rhythms, that very production approach has launched Swavé, born Manuel Olea, to the forefront of Southern California’s ever-thriving house scene and established him as a force to be reckoned with on the global circuit, too.

Since 2021, the artist has been on a tear, unloading release after release on renowned labels like Nervous, Club Sweat, Sola, Club Bad, and Clarisse, which have, in turn, caught the ears of industry heavyweights like BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong, The Martinez Brothers, HUGEL, Cloonee, A-Trak, and many more who’ve played his tunes out live.

In 2023, Swavé upped the ante even further with his very own imprint, Somethin’ Light Recs. After launching with Swave’s percussive hit, “Me Matas,” in November of that year, the label has since provided a home for releases from talented emerging artists like Ambrxse, Damelo, Franklyn Watts, and more. Somethin’ Light will drop its latest from fellow Los Angeles favorite Lucati this Friday, February 21.
