Tale Of Us Reaches Bitter End After MRAK Officially Ousted From Company

Tale Of Us

Tale Of Us is officially over.

Legal documents that surfaced yesterday confirmed founding member MRAK’s departure as managing director of Karmat Music GmbH, the parent company of the melodic techno duo’s Afterlife label and event series, amid an ongoing internal legal dispute, allegations of corporate sabotage, and a prior creative split with Anyma.

Public documents from the Berlin commercial register indicate shareholders voted to remove MRAK, aka Carmine Conte, as managing director with immediate effect on August 6. According to the meeting notes, Conte was not present and did not send legal representation. Another digital notification confirmed the corporate changes on August 17.

Karmat Music alleges Conte—an equal shareholder with Anyma and co-owner Aurelia Ortiz—used his access to download and share confidential documents with SIPAL S.p.A, a corporate partner and minority shareholder, during an ongoing legal battle between SIPAL and Karmat.

Karmat also alleges that Conte instructed a lawyer to accept SIPAL’s claims in court on the company’s behalf, allegedly allowing SIPAL to secure a court decision against Karmat in May. They contend Conte actively worked with SIPAL against Karmat Music’s best interests. Conte has not yet spoken publicly about the allegations or his departure.

Anyma, aka Matteo Milleri, has stepped further away from Tale Of Us and Afterlife this year, officially launching his own new label, ÆDEN Records, with the release of its debut compilation, ÆDEN: Digital Renaissance Vol. I, in August.
