After a career year in 2025, TATE SEDAR is bookending his last chapter and looking ahead to the next.
Earlier this month, the Los Angeles producer-DJ shared a retrospective compilation with all of his releases (and several live sets) from last year. Out now on SoundCloud, the playlist encapsulates a watershed 2025 in which SEDAR self-released his debut EP, This Is Post-EDM; churned thousands of plays with his popular remixes of tracks by Coldplay and Afrojack; and landed his latest single, “breakDOWN” on an imprint of Steve Aoki’s legendary Dim Mak Records.
As he continues the momentum for 2026 with an anticipated headline performance with Los Angeles’ PlurEventz next month, listen to the compilation below and have a look back at TATE SEDAR’s top releases and biggest moments from the year in review.
Exploring “the grey between progressive and bass”
After fulfilling his long-held vision to blend “golden era EDM,” electro house, and dancepop on his February 2025 debut EP, This Is Post-EDM, SEDAR set off in a new direction in June.
Born from his busy studio output since the pandemic and inspired by the melting pot of dance sounds found at local SoCal raves, the new sound has seen SEDAR use his basis in progressive music to explore “the grey” between the genre and other more bass-heavy styles like garage and bass house, spanning several popular bootlegs and deeply immersive mixes.
Post-EDM Encore: “Fix You (TATE SEDAR 20th Anniversary Remix)”
In September, exactly 20 years to the date after Coldplay released “Fix You,” SEDAR dug into the vault to share his own remix of the softspoken multi-platinum ballad. First written with a friend in his San Francisco bedroom studio in 2019 and revisited in 2023, the track fortified his “post-EDM” concept in an emotional marriage of acoustic chords and deep house beats.
Dim Mak debut with “breakDOWN”
Later in September, SEDAR landed his first release on Steve Aoki’s famous Dim Mak Records. First drawn up in 2023, “breakDOWN” saw SEDAR blend garage samples with his first dance music love, breakbeat.
Encapsulating a high-energy journey through tension, breakdown, and release, the track found its home on Dim Mak’s cutting-edge imprint, New Noise, and served as a focal point in his first guest mix for Dim Mak Studio. Again diving into “the grey,” the 25-minute set nodded to SEDAR’s electro and prog roots while showcasing his growing affinity for bass house.
Adding groove to a classic: “Our Time (TATE SEDAR Remix)”
Reworking Afrojack, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, and Amél’s July 2025 hit “Our Time,” SEDAR embellished the foursome’s new school prog anthem with extra heart and groove on his own remix released in October. The track also marked his first full-fledged foray into bass house, born out of his experiences playing the San Diego club circuit and soaking up Europe’s massive festival main stages.
TATE SEDAR: Immersive ❪ 𓆩✦𓆪 ❫
In November, SEDAR developed TATE SEDAR: Immersive ❪ 𓆩✦𓆪 ❫, an entrancing new audiovisual experience for his first festival performance at Los Angeles’ INDULGE Mini-Festival. Filmed by Danny Nguyen at the Creative Technology Center in Lincoln Heights, and now available for listening via SoundCloud, the performance featured projection and LED floor-mapped skeleton visuals by Ksü Visuals and Damongraphics, accompanying a one-hour journey through commercial hits, bass house, techno, and trap.
