Long-heralded for their Disney World-esque attention to detail, new reports indicate that Tomorrowland is in talks with Dutch investment group Momentum Leisure to launch a theme park attraction.
According to Dutch amusement park news website Looopings, “one of the options on the table is a Tomorrowland water park.” Sources at Momentum Leisure say that partnership talks are being had, but nothing has been finalized.
As a result, a number of concept illustrations by Kurt Heerman, though outdated, have circulated online and show beautifully ornate waterslides and other aquatic features set amongst a number of structures that are undoubtedly on-brand for the Belgian festival.
In an email shared with EDM Identity, a Tomorrowland spokesperson confirmed that the festival is working on a “new attraction in a recreation park” and that “a swimming paradise is among the possibilities,” before clarifying that the leaked designs are not accurate.
Tomorrowland previously worked with Momentum Leisure on a roller coaster called The Ride to Happiness at the Belgian theme park Plopsaland De Panne in 2021. A currently under-construction amusement park in Germany, named Holiday Park, will also include Tomorrowland-themed attractions once it is complete.
However fanciful, the potential theme park addition would seem to be a fitting next step for Tomorrowland’s ever-expanding scope of dance music experiences.
Since its inception in 2005, the festival has grown to attract over 400,000 attendees and now features amenities like spas, a gym, and even Michelin Star restaurants.
Tomorrowland will also launch an immersive experience titled “The Great Library of Tomorrow” in Barcelona later this year.
Though it may take some time before we see the new Tomorrowland amusement park plans come to fruition, fans can get their daydreaming started with the old concept art below.
