Uber is planning to roll out an expansion of their flight booking feature directly through their app in the UK.
Powered by the online travel agent, Hopper, UK customers can enter their destination and travel dates directly into the app and then select and pay for their desired flights without having to shift to a website. This includes domestic and international flights.
Users can even choose their seat assignments directly with the feature.
The new collaboration is part of a larger push from Uber to become a central hub for travel. Some flights are already available through Uber, but the company plans to expand its offerings later this summer.
UK Uber users can already book buses, trains, and boat transportation through partnerships with Eurostar, Thames Clippers, Omio, National Rail, National Express, and Megabus.
They have had immense success with the platform, claiming that booking numbers have increased by 40% each month since launching the other travel features in August last year.
But US users may have to wait a while before Uber becomes an all-in-one travel hub.
A spokesperson told ABC News, “For now, we’re focused on piloting this ticketing feature in the UK and we’ll be closely monitoring customer engagement before we commit to a timeline to expand the feature to other markets.”
