We Belong Here To Stage Summer Party Series On Governors Island In NYC

Governors Island in New York City.

New York City has a new music festival in town.

Yesterday, We Belong Here, famous for its boutique festival in Miami, unveiled initial details for a new party series coming to Governors Island this summer.

We Belong Here will stage six parties on the scenic island in New York Harbor over the course of two weekends: May 24-26, 2024 (Memorial Day weekend) and May 31-June 2, 2024.

Limited information about the forthcoming party series is available at this time. However, organizers have shared that each party will feature a unique lineup with over 20 different acts.

Founded in 2022 as a festival offering that would appeal to those who “had outgrown the current festival and club scene,” We Belong Here has found rapid success in Miami by playing to a variety of niche house and techno tastes.

The festival’s upcoming third edition at Virginia Key Beach will feature headliners Bob Moses, Tchami, Wax Motif and GORDO, support performances from Night Tales, Nitefreak, Tom & Collins and Westend, and even a stage takeover from Lane 8’s This Never Happened imprint.

Many music fans will be familiar with Governors Island, which provided a home for the inaugural Governors Ball Music Festival in 2011. Gov Ball left its namesake site after just one edition, but in the years since, the island’s sprawling greenspace and Manhattan skyline views have offered refuge for New Yorkers looking to escape the concrete jungle.

Following several renovations to its infrastructure, Governors Island is now poised to be a perfect location for dance music events in a city that has been crying out for better festival options in the wake of Electric Zoo’s downfall.
