A woman is suing a concert venue in Ontario, Canada, after attending a show, driving drunk, and then crashing into a home causing an explosion and $10 million in damages.
Daniella Leis, 26, was attending a Marilyn Manson concert in 2019 at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario when she became intoxicated. She was promptly kicked out of the venue and drove drunk, driving on the wrong side of the road and crashing into a home.
The car crashed into the house’s gas line, causing a massive fire and eventual explosion that injured seven people and destroyed four houses.
Now Leis is claiming that the food and beverage company Ovations is responsible for the accident. She has sued Ovations claiming they served her while knowing she was drunk and then kicked her out of the venue without trying to prevent her from driving home.
She also accused Ovations of putting “profit above safety” and that the damage the explosion dealt was “caused or contributed to by the negligence, breach of duty, breach of contract” by the bar.
Leis was sentenced to a three-year prison sentence in 2021 after pleading guilty to several counts including driving while intoxicated.
