The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is a little more than three months away.
As of today, we are just 97 days away until the music begins on weekend 1. Coachella takes place April 15-17 and April 22-24.
Tickets to both weekends have sold out. But, you can still get tickets if you know where to look. Check out my recent article on that here.
This year’s lineup is very impressive with something for everyone. Whenever the lineup is released, you’ll see a sea of trash talking online with many people bashing the lineup and festival.
Despite that drama, here are seven reasons why it will be amazing:
1. The Lineup
The closer I look at the lineup, the more I love it. There are more electronic acts and DJ’s than ever before. Plus, there are a lot more ladies on the lineup this year. Some “MUST SEE” performances from Coachella headliners include: LCD Soundsystem, Jack Ü, Underworld, Guns N’ Roses, Ice Cube, Disclosure, Zedd, Calvin Harris, Major Lazer and Sia. Sia has a new album out at the end of January – and you can bet that her performance in the desert will be one to remember. Calvin Harris will be closing out the festival on Sunday night on main stage. It was 8 years ago that he first played at the festival, with his name at the bottom of the lineup.
2. The Yuma Tent
Want to go on a wild musical journey? Well, head to the Yuma tent and get lost in the music. I spent HOURS in the Yuma tent last year because the techno was ON POINT. I hope that Coachella puts Nicole Moudaber in the Yuma tent in April.
3. Despacio Sound System
Speaking of the Yuma tent, the Despacio Sound System COULD be placed inside! What is the Despacio Sound System? Well, it’s a wall of speakers that provide ear shattering sound to the tune of 50,000 watts! If this is put inside the Yuma tent, it will be EVERYTHING! You can find out more about Despacio here.
4. The Food
Be sure to have at least ONE meal at Coachella. Some popular festival staples include: Garlic Crab Fries, gourmet ice cream sandwiches and popsicles, pizza from Spicy Pie, lobster rolls, fish tacos and much, much more. The official list of vendors for 2016 hasn’t been released just yet, but I would bet money on your favorites returning to the desert this year! One of my favorite snacks – the pork belly chips from Beer Belly LA! If you love bacon – you NEED to try these.
5. The Outfits
A fun thing to do at Coachella is to PEOPLE WATCH. Attendees come from all over the world – many bringing a unique sense of style to Coachella. From hundreds of girls in fringe outfits – to muscled guys in tiny board shorts – people either dress to impress or dress to dance. No matter what you do, you’ll have fun looking at everyone’s outfits. Be daring, take a chance and dress up. It will also provide you with countless photo opps.
6. The Artwork
Coachella has some of the biggest and best art installations around. I will never forget being in the Sahara tent in 2014 during Fatboy Slim’s set. The giant astronaut entered the back of the tent just as the lasers exploded. IT WAS AMAZING!! Last year we saw the giant caterpillar and butterfly roam the polo fields. There were countless other pieces of art staged throughout the festival grounds. Be sure to take some photos at these spots!
7. The Do LaB
Want a place to cool off from the desert heat – and hear some sick beats? Head to the Do LaB! This stage has some of the hottest names in house and bass music. Not only that, you’ll find some shade, misters and water guns to cool you off! I’m excited to see what this stage has in store for us in April.
With less than 100 days away until Weekend 1, stay with EDM Maniac for all of your Coachella coverage.
See you there!
