Beatport’s 34-Hour Weekend Livestream Raises $180,000 For COVID-19 Relief

As we all try to maneuver our way through the madness of COVID-19, It’s so refreshing to see people come together to create beauty, especially for a good cause. In today’s news, Beatport, the worlds leading destination point for electronic music, announced that their 34-hour live stream ” ReConnect” raised more than $180,000.

These donations are being sent to WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund as well as the AFEM (Association for Electronic Music) Member’s COVID-19 Hardship Fund. The goal is to help struggling AFEM member companies keep their lower-earning workers who would typically be let go. Funds will be directed to individuals most in need of urgent financial assistance.

Taking place over this past weekend, the DJ extravaganza featured world-renowned artists from the electronic music world. Some of the artists that took the virtual stage included Carl Cox, Rufus Du Sol, Bonobo, Pete Tong, A-Trak, ANNA, Chris Liebing, and many more. This event proved to be quite successful as it brought in over 8.5 million views with people from more than 150 countries. Most importantly, we are proud to say that there were over 6,200 donors that bestowed their money on these great organizations.

A huge THANK YOU to all involved in delivering this epic event and to everyone who made a donation. The phenomenal response from the electronic music community has shown a glimpse of what we can achieve through collective passion for our scene to support, connect and inspire each other with acts of generosity, innovation, love and unity. AFEM will ensure everyone’s generosity reaches those members in most need of urgent financial help and the World Health Organization (WHO) global efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic”.
