New NYC Club Flash Factory To Open Doors Friday

For about a year now, the New York City dance scene has been anticipating the opening of a new venue that has promised to revive an element of nightlife in Manhattan that seemed to be disappearing. Now, this Friday night, Flash Factory will finally open it’s doors on W. 28th Street in Chelsea following last weekend’s opening that had to be postponed due to Winter Storm Jonas.

10, 000 square feet in size, the latest addition to the community is actually promoting itself as the antithesis of what has saturated the dance scene in NYC. According to an article by The New York Times, “V.I.P. tables and bottle service will not be a focus; dancing will.” Unfortunately, the resurgence of EDM has brought a mainstream, money-making vibe to the nightclub industry, something owners Michael Satsky and Brian Gefter have noticed. The two are also co-founders of Provocateur, a posh lounge in the Meatpacking District, and have a reputation of producing notable nightlife venues. According to the press release posted by DJ Mag the Flash Factory took Satsky and Gefter “three years to find and another three to build.” You also won’t find the tacky trimmings of most EDM-focused clubs, as the “venue deliberately avoids LED panels and screens, instead opting for organic architectural elements.” And if the aesthetics aren’t appealing enough, Flash Factory has started announcing it’s initial lineup of artists to perform in the coming months, including TigaDJ QuJamie Jones and a set by Eric Prydz under his edgy alias Cirez D.

East coast origin, West coast lifestyle… Growing up I was always surrounded by the sounds of dance music in New York and Florida. However, it wasn’t until college that I was introduced to the rave scene and finally experienced the love and positivity this community is all about. I’m into warehouse undergrounds and massives like Ultra Miami, TomorrowWorld, Nocturnal Wonderland, Hard Day of the Dead, and Buku Music & Art Festival… In addition to EDM, my playlists usually have a lot of Hip-Hop, Top 40 and I’m a huge sucker for throwbacks. Hit me up if you’re attending an event in the Hollywood/LA area, as I’m always open to making new friends!
