I guess some people just couldn’t wait any longer. An illegal rave in France was busted by police with more than 2,500 total attendees with a majority of them coming from the UK and Spain. While dispersing the event, police encountered “fierce hostility from many partygoers,” and were reportedly harassed with various objects being thrown in their direction. The warehouse party occurred in Lieruon, France, and was expected to last until the early morning of January 2 before it was shut down by law enforcement.
All attendees are required to self-isolate for seven days and it is reported that a driver with turntables, speakers, and a generator was arrested by police. A police investigation has been launched to look into the organizers who helped plan the event.
Five arrests were made and more than 1,200 fines were issued for refusing to follow COVID-19 guidelines according to BBC. The investigation is ongoing, so more arrests and fines will likely be made in the coming weeks.
It is important that we continue to follow all COVID-19 guidelines in order to stay safe and healthy during these uncertain times.
