Founder and CEO of Insomniac Events, Pasquale Rotella, has landed on Billboard’s 2016 Power 100 List. The list features some of the most powerful executives and CEO’s in the music business. Last year Rotella was ranked at 59. This year, Rotella jumped up 6 spots to snag the 53rd spot on the list.
Since creating a partnership with Live Nation back in 2013, Rotella has grown Insomniac Events into a worldwide brand. Electric Daisy Carnival, which originated in Los Angeles 20 years ago, has blossomed into a international festival with parties in Mexico, Brazil, Japan and London. More than 400,000 people are expected to attend Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas in June.
Rotella had this to say when asked by Billboard about where the festival scene is going:
“Things will get even more creative. I believe that will include experience and customer service. You’ll see some expand internationally, even more so than they have.”
The 41 year old also spoke about how to best prevent drug-related deaths at festivals:
“Educate the public. Speak up when ridiculous accusations come up. And run safe events and continue to find innovative ways to ensure safety and security.”
The head of Insomniac also gave one prediction for the industry in 2016:
“We’re going to see some festival closings. Saturation is a big issue.”
