Awakenings is one of the most revered techno festivals in the world, and to celebrate 25 years in 2022, there will be two versions of the event.
The classic festival will happen over two days in June at Spaarnwoude Recreational Area just outside of Amsterdam. This will be the first proper Awakenings since 2019, and it will feature the same lineup as the 2020 edition which had to be postponed twice due to COVID-19.
There also be the new Awakenings Summer Festival. Happening from July 29-31, 2022, this event will add an extra day to the Awakenings experience along with a new location and a campsite. Awakenings has historically relied on Gashouder and other venues around Amsterdam for their all-night affairs, but now with camping, dancers can party all day and all night at an Awakenings festival.
“From a business standpoint, I always want to keep moving, never stagnating. Nothing is ever truly finished and there’s always room for improvement. Our team continuously looks at ways to make things more beautiful and impactful. Awakenings Festival started as a single-day event, and expanded to two days in 2014. But, we felt like there was still room for more, especially because the community had so much to say about missing a multiple-day techno event here in the Netherlands. With this renewed concept, we’re extremely happy to make that dream come to life,” says Rocco Veenboer, Founder of Awakenings.
