Berlin Nightclubs Will Officially Reopen On March 4

The Berlin Senate has officially confirmed nightclubs will be allowed to reopen in the city beginning March 4, 2022. The new directive comes as a result of easing COVID-19 restrictions around the city and the rest of Germany.

The city will implement what’s known as the ‘2G Plus’ rule, which will require all nightclub attendees to present proof of either vaccination or recent recovery in addition to showing a negative test. Everyone will need to take a test whether they are vaccinated or not.

“In order to still enable safe club nights in Berlin, we have agreed in the Senate that when the club opens on March 4, 2G Plus with an antigen test obligation should initially apply to all guests, including those who have been boosted,” said Berlin’s Senate Department for Culture and Europe.

Back in December of 2021, the Berlin Senate banned dancing within nightclubs in response to a spike in cases from the Omicron variant. As a result, many venues temporarily shuttered operations completely. Now, many clubs are planning reopening celebrations including Club OST, Panke, Hoppetosse, and Funkhaus.
