The metaverse is the future, and Insomniac is ahead of the game. The major electronic music event promoter recently announced that they will partner with Unity, a game developer that rivals Fortnite developer Epic Games, to create a persistent world in the metaverse for virtual concerts.
“With the vision and creativity of the world’s leading live events company and the groundbreaking technology that comes from Unity, the Insomniac community can expect a powerfully interactive and engaging experience as both companies are set to create the next generation of live entertainment,” reads a statement provided to MusicBusinessWorldwide.
This will not be the first time Insomniac has produced virtual events. For EDC Las Vegas 2021, they partnered with Roblox to create a virtual EDC where viewers from all over the world could watch sets from the festival.
Insomniac has been streaming live sets from EDC Las Vegas for years, and with the emergence of Insomniac TV from the pandemic, the brand already has a built in audience ready to dive into the virtual experience.
“Unity is helping us create a world’s first experience for our community as we work together to deliver the next level of what the metaverse can be for entertainment and music,” say Pasquale Rotella, founder of Insomniac.
