Calvin Harris Debuts First Album In 5 Years, ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2’

Calvin Harris has proven he has the international appeal to top charts all across the globe. Now his long-anticipated album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 is out to close out summer with a bang.

The LP includes huge names in pop, R&B, and rap like Dua Lipa, Snoop Dogg, and Busta Rhymes. They accompany a smooth and funky sound with a more chilled-out feel than past Harris bangers.

The full work begins beachy, similar to the highly acclaimed “Slide” from 2017. Then the pieces get a bit more groovy with “Obsessed” (with Charlie Puth & Shenseea)” and “New To You” (with Normani, Tinashe, & Offset). Lastly, the tracks slow down finishing with the guitar-heavy “Day One” (with Pharrell Williams & Pusha T).

Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 is Calvin Harris’s first long project since Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 in 2017. His side project, Love Regenerator, did release an EP with Solardo entitled Rollercoaster in 2021.

Yet, this latest work showcases Harris’s exploration with jazz, funk, R&B, and hip hop in a nostalgic style that’s appealing to both ravers and non-ravers.
