Spotify is yet again rolling out a feature that personalizes new music for its listeners, and this time it’s an AI DJ right in your pocket.
The new DJ is an AI guide that looks through your playlists, latest releases you might like, and even past playlists to create a tailored listening experience.
There are three technological aspects to curating the playlist. First is Spotify’s personalization technology that provides music recommendations.
Then generative AI made with OpenAI technology gives expertly curated facts about the music, artists, or genres you’re listening to.
Last, a dynamic AI voice narrates the journey and feels like a real DJ is guiding you through the experience.
Then you can provide feedback and it will switch up the playlist. Or manually ask for a new playlist to better fit what you are feeling at that moment.
Spotify has long been collecting data on their user’s listening patterns and using it to offer up new music or playlists. The “New Releases” and “Discover Weekly” playlists as well as the annual Spotify Wrapped take users’ music trends to create a better listening experience.
The new DJ feature on Spotify rolls out in English starting today for Spotify Premium users in the U.S. and Canada.
