East London Nightclub Hosts “AI Rave” With An App Instead Of A DJ

AI has officially taken over the club as an East London nightclub recently hosted an AI-rave called “Algorhythm.”

The nightclub is named The Glove That Fits and used the AI app Mubert to take the role of DJ in a first party of its kind, the promotor claims.

Mubert “was created by a team of Ukrainian and Russian developers and uses human-made loops and samples to create new music.”

Similar to Spotify’s new AI DJ feature, users can like or dislike the music offered to better tailor it to the user’s tastes.

However, there was some criticism of the mixing as attendees said it was “just a generic bop” and “dry” and “empty.”

Anna-Laura, a 26-year-old AI researcher from Imperial College London, told Context“When you’re having a really good night at a rave, it’s because the DJ is guiding you through a journey. You’re a part of a unique consciousness, but with an AI you do not see that happening.”
