Last Friday, award-winning Australian house music producer Dom Dolla made his Essential Mix debut on BBC Radio 1, an important benchmark for reverence in the global dance music industry.
The broadcast coincided with the release of Dom’s latest single “Saving Up,” which featured in the two-hour session alongside tracks from some of the producer’s highly-regarded contemporaries, including fellow Aussies Sonny Fodera and Torren Foot, as well as UK-based producer Low Steppa, rising Dutch star Mau P, and progressive house artist Audien.
Sharing his excitement with fans in the days prior to the broadcast, Dom Dolla wrote on X, “Honoured to have been asked to do my own essential mix for BBC Radio 1… I really can’t wait to share this with you guys. Life is wild.”
The achievement is just the latest in a long list of recognitions for one of modern house music’s most lauded stars.
In 2020, Dom Dolla’s “San Frandisco” won “Best Independent Electronica or Club Single” at Australia’s AIR Awards and “Best Dance Release” at the country’s ARIA Music Awards, and the fan-favorite artist hasn’t slowed down since.
A steady stream of hits from Dom Dolla this year, including “Miracle Maker,” “Eat Your Man” with Nelly Furtado, “Rhyme Dust” with MK, and more, have contributed to the artist’s more than 300 million streams to date.
