A long-awaited collaboration between Martin Garrix and ILLENIUM is in the works.
After a photo of the respective progressive house and melodic bass stars working in the studio surfaced online late last week, ILLENIUM confirmed that rumors of an incoming collaboration are true.
“EPIC DAY IN TOKYO WORKING ON A NEW TUNE WITH THIS LEGEND!!” ILLENIUM, who was in Japan for a performance at Zouk Tokyo last weekend, wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of himself and Garrix.
Neither producer has announced a release date for the collaboration at the time of writing. It’s also unknown what the convergence of their two distinct styles will sound like.
However, ILLENIUM has notably produced progressive tracks such as “Hurts Like This” and a popular collaborative remix with NURKO of JVKE’s “golden hour.” On the other hand, Garrix recently stepped into the bass realm during his set at Ultra Miami last month, dropping a drum & bass ID.
Last month, ILLENIUM shared his anticipated new Seven Lions collaboration, “Not Even Love.” Garrix’s first release of 2024 also came in March, in the form of his new IDEM EP, featuring collaborations with Third Party, Mesto, DubVision and more.
As touring schedules pick up with the arrival of the 2024 festival season, ILLENIUM will next head to Florida and Washington D.C. for performances at E11EVEN Miami, Breakaway Tampa, and Project GLOW this weekend. He will then appear at EDC Las Vegas, his own Gorge weekender, and Elements Festival, among others.
Garrix, who wrapped up his weekend with a set at the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, will make major summer tour stops at EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Europe, Veld Music Festival, Sziget, Creamfields, Lollapalooza Berlin, and more in between residency appearances at Las Vegas’ OMNIA Nightclub and Ushuaïa Ibiza.
