Getting Prepared For Middlelands 2017

With Insomniac releasing the map and stage lineups for their fabled Middlelands festival, it’s time to start getting ready. We are only 3 weeks away from one of this summers must attend events. We are all excited for the first installment of the “Renaissance Rave” down in Southeast Texas. With dozens of big name artists on 5 stages expertly curated by the Insomniac crew, who wouldn’t be excited? There are costumes to get ready, totems to finish, luggage to pack, and camping supplies to load.

With all the excitement it can be easy to forget something at home. It’s always best to make out a list ahead of time to make sure you don’t leave anything essential behind. This is especially important if you are camping at the festival. Always double check your camping gear before the festival to avoid any surprises when you get there.

Here’s a list of some of the items you don’t want to forget before heading out to Middlelands.

  • Hydration Pack – This is the single most important lifesaving item in your arsenal. Don’t forget it at home!
  • Totem – You spend hours and hours making the perfect totem for you squad to find you. Don’t get lost in the crowd because you forgot it.
  • Costumes – You spent a lot of money and time on them, so make sure you don’t forget them!
  • Flow Toys – No flow artist can leave home without their props.
  • Power Bank – Make sure you’ve got at least one to keep your phone charged. If you’re camping try to have several of them on hand.
  • Rave Gear – Make sure that you have plenty of Chap Stick, gum, Vicks, etc. to last the entire weekend.
  • Poncho – A rain poncho in the hydration pack is clutch for any festival goer.

For those who are camping:

  • Tent – Open up you tent to check for any tears and make sure you have all your poles and stakes.
  • Air Mattress – Air up that mattress real quick and check for leaks.
  • Pillows – You need somewhere to lay your head.
  • Sleeping Bag – Unroll your sleeping bag and check for any bugs hiding away.
  • Hammock – Break out the hammock and make sure you have enough rope to tie off with.
  • Warm Clothes – Bring at least one set of warm clothes just in case it gets cold at night.
  • Fresh Water – Make sure that you have plenty of fresh water to drink with the south Texas sun. It is also handy washing dishes and when you want to wash your hair real quick.
  • Alcohol – Make sure to stock up for the whole weekend of partying.
  • Food – You’ve got to eat right? We recommend that you take a lot of protein bars and other non-perishable foods to help keep you going. Fresh fruit like bananas and oranges have natural, biodegradable wrappers and they replenish many lost electrolytes. Foods like these help you from having to haul in more gear than what is needed.
  • Trash Bags – A clean campsite is a happy campsite. Please bring extra trash bags and be responsible enough to leave your area clean.
  • Dishes – Pots and pans are needed if you’re planning to cook at all. Disposable plates, cups, and silverware work great, although a cheap camping set is more environmentally friendly.
  • Propane stove – Fire up that propane stove and burn off any impurities before using it the first time this season.
  • Baby Wipes – Baby wipes are a great way to wipe down your body real quick to feel refreshed between showers at a festival.
  • Dry Shampoo – Another great tool to help you feel clean without having to take a full on shower.
