Today, the electronic dance community, and the world, lost a bright shining soul who had a profound talent that brought us all together. Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii passed away today at the age of 28. While many news sources speculate on the cause of his death, here at EDM Maniac we like to focus on what’s truly important, the pure hearted expertise Avicii displayed throughout his career as a DJ. For many of us, Avicii’s music is what opened us up to the world of EDM, and his euphoric beats continue to be played well into 2018. This Grammy nominated producer paved the way for many other DJs, and thrust EDM into the mainstream spotlight, gathering up many people who may have never given EDM a chance.
Avicii won many awards throughout his career including Favorite Electronic Music Artist at the AMAs, Top Dance/Electronic Song and EDM Song of the Year for “Wake Me Up” at the Billboard Music Awards and iHeartRadio Music Awards, Electronic Dance Music National award at the Echo Music Awards, Best Swedish Act at MTV Europe Music Awards, and many more. These awards are tangible evidence of his talent, but his songs, which will be played for decades to come, will truly be what helps his spirit live on forever.
Everybody within the EDM community remembers the first time they heard “Levels”, and how unbelievably popular it became, allowing EDM to gain the recognition it deserves. From now until the end of time, songs like these will continue getting us through tough times, they will be there on our ride to the beach with the windows rolled down, and they will be there at the festival finale when the fireworks go up and we mourn the loss of a true legend, Avicii, together.
