Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is a driving force that unites global dance music culture. Every October, artists, label heads, venue owners, agents, managers, and countless others who play a role in the scene come together in Amsterdam to discuss the future of the sound, and of course, to dance their feet off.
Like most large-scale dance music offerings, ADE has been upended by COVID-19 for the past two years. In 2021, a filtered version of the event was able to run, but the full-fledged experience has yet to make a grand return.
Of the many results from the pandemic, one that lingers on to this day is the realization of how integral dance music culture is to humanity. Those who are drawn to the dance floor have found a home there, and ADE has honored this truth with a new mini-documentary entitled DANCE IS A RAVE-OLUTION.
Across the 15-minute video filmed at ADE 2021, the mini-doc discusses the various aspects of the culture’s intrinsic value through ideas such as “LET THE MUSIC FREE YOUR MIND” and “I AM PRACTICING MY PHYSICAL CULTURE.” Artists like Octo Octa, Honey Dijon, Luke Slater, and more share their insights.
“Words can’t express how grateful we are for our incredible scene and its many different participants, finally connecting with one another once again on the dance floor during our long-awaited return to Amsterdam last October. We can’t wait to come back this year in full force to turn the entire city black and yellow again,” reads a description of the documentary on YouTube.
