Awakenings Festival in Amsterdam is known to some as the “holy grail of Techno festivals,” and rightfully so. The festival has blossomed from an underground festival to a well-known and well-respected brand in the Techno community.
With standalone events throughout the year, Awakenings is a powerful force of music and incredible production. The brand plays host to numerous events in its home of Amsterdam, the center of everything electronic music. Awakenings’ mind-bending production at the Gashouder has become one of the most sought-out experiences in the world, hosting five days of music during the annual Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in October. I’ve been attending ADE for many years and Awakenings is by far one of the most exhilarating experiences you will find. I highly recommend it.
This year, Awakenings Festival is celebrating 20 years of community and music with an epic 20th-anniversary celebration. The festival will return to it’s home in Spaarnwoude (just outside of on Amsterdam) on June 27 and 28 for two days of techno and plenty of surprises.
The Awakenings Festival 2020 lineup boasts icons like Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Robert Hood, Richie Hawtin & Carl Cox. Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens, Reinier Zonneveld, and Dax J will also return to Spaarnwoude to play on both days. Maceo Plex will host his Mosaic label for the third year in a row, and Joris Voorn will return to host ‘Joris Voorn & Friends’.
