Beatport has launched the first web browsing DJ’ing application, Beatport DJ, which allows you to mix within your own browser.
What Is Beatport DJ?
Beatport DJ’s recently announced browser-based DJ application allows you to prep your own DJ sets and mix within your web browser. Currently, this feature is only available for Beatport LINK subscribers but it will be available later to all individuals with a subscription tier and works directly with Google Chrome. Beatport has already established itself as the primary platform for artists to display their music and has made great strides to continuously support DJs through various program implementations and improvements. Earlier this year, Beatport launched Beatport Next, a platform designed to help six up-and-coming artists with global features and promotions. Now, the company has revealed Beatport DJ, a brand new browser feature that will allow you to mix straight from your computer’s browser without the need for a controller.
How Will It Work?
Beatport DJ is the company’s first browser-based platform which is designed to help artists learn the ropes behind DJ’ing. The platform will feature typical controls a normal DJ controller would have. A tempo slider, as well as various effect controls, will be available to use. There will also be various tutorials and tools available in order to make it easier for beginning DJs to learn how to mix. Once you are subscribed, subscribers will have the chance to prepare and share LINK-ready playlists that can be used within Beatport DJ. According to Beatport’s Senior Vice President Romain Pouillon,
“Beatport DJ will build tremendous value across the entire LINK ecosystem and open up new discovery possibilities to DJs of any skill level. It will be beneficial to music creators and record labels as it fuels increased streaming royalties as well as accelerate the mass-adoption of our LINK subscription service which will also benefit our trusted DJ software and hardware partners. It is a one-of-a-kind tool for inspiring a generation of new DJs who can start mixing right from their laptop’s web browser at dj.beatport.com on day one.”
