Beatport Acquires Majority Stake In International Music Summit Ibiza, Forms Partnership

The Beatport Group, the company behind the internet music marketplace, Beatport, just announced that it has acquired a majority stake and formed a partnership with the International Music Summit (IMS) Ibiza.

IMS Ibiza is a conference held annually on the Balearic island with live seminars, keynote interviews, masterclasses, and industry networking events to enhance and progress the future of the electronic music industry.

The inciteful discussions on diversity, mental health, sexual harassment, and more inspire debate while helping to implement positive change.

The event was established in 2007 by five partners, including DJ icon and A&R exec Pete Tong and artist manager Ben Turner. IMS Ibiza will continue to operate under the direction of its co-founders, with the full support of The Beatport Group.

The IMS founding partners commented, “We are very proud of what we’ve built at IMS over these past 16 years…  Aligning with Beatport… will enable us to action many of our ideas on how to continue to grow the platform all year round; to further educate and mentor the next generation; and to help focus the industry’s attention on the issues that matter.”

Beatport has worked with IMS in the past, powering their IMS College program that offered workshops, production masterclasses, and career coaching for the next generation of creatives.

IMS Ibiza returns for its fourteenth edition this April 26-28 for three days of music industry education and conversation.
