After more than a decade of official releases, Ben Böhmer has finally struck certified gold.
The Berlin-based melodic star’s 2020 Cercle Records single “Cappadocia” has officially reached gold status in France, marking both Böhmer and the label’s first-ever gold record.
“Memories for a lifetime, really,” Böhmer said of the accomplishment in a video posted to Instagram by Cercle Records on Monday. “It’s like a life changing moment.”
Sharing a name with the geologically marvelous region of Central Turkey where Böhmer performed from a hot air balloon in partnership with the Parisian label, promoter, and livestream outlet, the cascading progressive house collaboration with fellow genre star and Anjunadeep breakthrough Romain Garcia arrived in September 2020, just days after its sky-high debut.
Following a performance at San Francisco’s Portola Music Festival last weekend, Böhmer will fittingly celebrate the achievement with a return performance in Turkey tomorrow, October 4, just over four years after the release of “Cappadocia.” He’ll headline Istanbul’s Maximum UNIQ Open Air as part of his ongoing “Bloom Live” tour.
The world tour follows the release of Böhmer’s third studio album, Bloom, and will make further stops in Dubai, Australia, and European cities such as London, Antwerp, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Madrid through mid-December.
The 11-track LP, released on world-famous London-based independent Ninja Tune last month, is packed with Böhmer’s signature melancholy electronica and is said to bring the classically trained musician’s “innate skill and passion for songwriting and composing to the foreground,” according to a press release.
