Detox Unit is back with his new EP, Schematic.
After dropping “Detonator” last month—his first original release since 2023—the cult-favorite experimental bass artist completes his self-released comeback with three new tracks that blend raw bassweight with meticulous sound design and the hip-hop bounce that has come to define his high-flying live performances.
Built to hit as hard in your headphones as the festival sound systems he’s commanded for over a decade, the EP traverses through coiled bassline textures on “Low Visibility,” the brooding downtempo slap of “Big Mood,” and head-spinning drum beats on “Equidistant,” punctuated by the jumpy, old-school hip-hop attitude of its lead single.
Launching the Denver-based producer, DJ, and longtime Tipper & Friends affiliate’s next creative chapter after a year spent locked in the studio, Schematic lands nearly three years on from the release of his last original project, 2023’s acclaimed Liminal LP, as the artist—born Joseph Roberts—continues his biggest touring run yet.
After two surprise appearances at Electric Forest—including a first-ever B2B with Thought Process at Grand Artique—and a headline set at Sound Haven, he’ll roll on to more festival gigs at Nocturnal Valley and Secret Dreams next month ahead of additional touring dates through late December.
