In celebration of International Women’s Day, today EDM Maniac is excited to announce our very first ‘Aspiring Women in Music’ scholarship. The scholarship will apply to any female who is looking to pursue a career within the dance music industry.
Each year, the theme for International Women’s Day changes. This year’s theme is #ChoosetoChallenge; a theme that comes at a very defying time in our world’s history. According to the International Women’s Day website, “A challenging world is an alert world, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.” We know this year has been challenging in all sorts of unexplainable ways, and we feel as though it is our responsibility to give back to the women who have both been challenged, and have challenged themselves. Our scholarship will aim to empower women in our community to advance themselves in the electronic music industry.
We truly believe women deserve a place at the table, and we hope this scholarship will elevate women who seek opportunities within the music world. We encourage anyone to apply who has studied or is studying in applicable areas (marketing, music production, journalism, media studies, etc) to submit an application.
In partnership with bold.org, a formal application and essay covering a range of topics will be required. Applications will be open starting this week. Upon completion, our team will read through applications and stories to determine an appropriate winning candidate. The winning candidate will receive $1,000 which will go directly towards student loans. The winning candidate will be announced this September.
