After hearing it on the radio and remixed by our favorite DJs, ACRAZE’s top hit “Do It To It,” has just been ranked Dance Song of the Year by iHeartRadio. Charlie Duncker, more often known as ACRAZE, has completely risen to the top following the popular single. We’ve seen ACRAZE at many festivals in 2021 and now booked for even more in 2022. After playing main stage at Ultra Miami, EDM Maniac got the chance to catch up with the man himself. We talk all things Miami Music Week, “Do It To It“, and what other surprises ACRAZE has in store this year.
EDM Maniac: What’s up everyone! I’m here at Ultra Miami with ACRAZE! Thanks so much for meeting with me, how are you?!
ACRAZE: How are you!!! Of course!
EDM Maniac: I’m good! How has your time been in Miami so far?
ACRAZE: No sleep, no food, I feel like I’m starving all the time but lots of partying, lots of meeting new people, seeing friends, and having a good time!
EDM Maniac: Haha same it’s also super hot today. You just finished playing your set at Ultra Miami main stage! How was your set?
ACRAZE: So sick, just a dream come true. I remember dreaming about that moment every other day when I first started producing. I was so nervous getting up on stage I was gonna throw up haha, I was shaking.
EDM Maniac: Is this your first Ultra?
ACRAZE: Yes, I’ve never been to Ultra either so this was my first time for everything.
EDM Maniac: Me as well, it’s been great though!
ACRAZE: Yes it has been great!
EDM Maniac: So it’s no question that your song “Do It To It,” has been a crazy success! In fact, it just won Dance Song of the Year! Congratulations on that, that’s a huge accomplishment! Did you ever imagine that to happen?
ACRAZE: No. And that’s the beauty of it. Since it’s such a surprise it feels 10x better. The surprise is better than already knowing you’re gonna win. Because if you go into it knowing you’re gonna win it’s not like “SURPRISE-you won,” but now I’m like “YES!”
EDM Maniac: Haha yes and honestly the song just keeps on growing. Tiesto just dropped a remix- that must be crazy!
ACRAZE: Ya he’s a great guy, humble dude. Love him, he is pretty too!
EDM Maniac: Haha he is pretty! He played a sweet set yesterday, not sure if you saw it?
ACRAZE: I did. I saw it from the boat. We were watching from over there it was great!
EDM Maniac: Do you have any new projects you’re working on?
ACRAZE: Oh ya I have hundreds.
EDM Maniac: Haha hundreds? Well, when can we expect them? New album? Singles?
ACRAZE: Definitely not an album but we’re gonna drop something before summer.
EDM Maniac: Sweet well everyone lookout for that! What can people expect down the road from ACRAZE?
ACRAZE: Lots of shows, lots of partying, lots of music, lots of good times, and lots of memories!
EDM Maniac: Haha good vibes.
ACRAZE: Lots of fashion, big fashion guy!
EDM Maniac: Yes you are known for your great style!
ACRAZE: Ahh thank you. Just lots of fun!
EDM Maniac: So you’ve been touring for a while, how do you decompress while on the road?
ACRAZE: I mean it’s hard to find time to decompress, to be honest. But coming back home is starting to feel like a vacation. Getting home and going straight to my bed and not moving haha. When I get home I don’t even shower I just go straight to bed, I try to find time to sleep that’s the best I can do.
EDM Maniac: Sleep is important, where is home for you?
ACRAZE: Orlando.
EDM Maniac: Ahh very cool. Besides being a DJ, what are some of your hobbies or passions while you’re not working on music?
ACRAZE: I like to play basketball, I like to play my Nintendo switch a lot.
EDM Maniac: What games do you play?
ACRAZE: Mario Kart, Pokemon, Star Wars, I mean the list goes on but those are a few.
EDM Maniac: Haha that’s awesome, what other shows and fests do you have lined up for the rest of the year?
ACRAZE: We’re pretty much booked for the rest of the year, we have a whole European tour which I’m really excited about. I’ve never been to Europe. We did a few shows in Dubai, that was awesome. But I’m going to Ibiza this year so that will be dope.
EDM Maniac: Wow so you’ll be all over the world!
ACRAZE: Yes, very excited about that!
