Gioli & Assia Drop Another Track Off Upcoming Massive LP, “Playing Chess”

Gioli & Assia just dropped the fourth single “Playing Chess” off their upcoming LP Fire, Hell and Holy Water.

“Playing Chess” was initially inspired by Florence & the Machine’s “Shake It Out” and is purely electronic. It’s led by Gioli’s up-tempo drums and captivating piano chords and accompanied by Assia’s haunting vocals.

The ambiance reflects the intense and introspective nature of the record while showcasing the couple’s personal relationship in a purely intimate way.

“The lyrics revolve around the metaphor according to which we are nothing but pawns on a chessboard, part of a game, of a mechanism that is none other than the society in whom we live today, which alienates us away from our more human and true dimension,” Giolì and Assia said about the track.

The full album is set for release September 9 on Ultra Records and kicks off the duo’s biggest headlining shows to date. They will perform at The Novo in LA and Brooklyn Steel in New York along with festival slots at ARC Music Festival, Life is Beautiful, and Portola in San Francisco.
