Whet Foundation, Groove Cruise & EDM Maniac Partner To Rebuild A Home After Island Tragedy

Whet Foundation Destination Donation initiative for Groove Cruise Miami 2024, with the support of EDM Maniac, is giving back to the island of Great Harbour in a big way by helping a local church, school, and a local family who recently lost their home in a fire.

Great Harbour is a small island that’s a 15-minute boat ride from Groove Cruise Miami’s tropical destination of Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas. The region—the population of which only reaches 800—has limited resources to address challenging situations like fires and inclement weather.

Whet Travel Chief Excitement Officer, Jason Beukema, and the Whet Travel team had the opportunity to visit this stunning island, where they identified an urgent need within the community and are determined to lend a helping hand.

Currently in greatest need is a family of a mom, three children, and five grandkids, including a newborn, whose home of 20 years burned down in April 2023.

According to the mother herself, she was in Nassau, Bahamas, when their house caught fire with her and the infant baby still in the house at the time. Both made it out safely, but the family now has to start all over.

Due to the limited resources on Great Harbour, there are no fire trucks on the island, meaning fires are often devastating to the inhabitants.

Now Whet Foundation, with support from Groove Cruise and EDM Maniac, are all joining together and calling on the GCFam to support this family through this difficult time.

They are in dire need of building supplies and kitchen appliances such as a refrigerator, washing machine, stove, and microwave.

Your contribution will directly benefit this family by providing them with the essential items they need to get back on their feet.

Whet Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to creating and encouraging community and individual involvement towards positive change. The nonprofit gives back to children in South Florida, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

We at EDM Maniac are honored to join Whet Foundation and Groove Cruise in their efforts to support local communities and impact the world through music.
