John Summit Will Not Hold His Experts Only Caverns Weekender In 2025

John Summit

John Summit will not hold his yearly label takeover of Tennessee’s subterranean concert venue, The Caverns, in 2025.

Shortly after being revealed as a headliner for Bonnaroo this year, the house and techno star and Experts Only label boss announced the “tough decision” to forgo a third consecutive takeover at the Grundy County venue on X yesterday, in order to focus on headlining the 80,000-attendee festival in Manchester, about 30 miles Northwest of The Caverns.

“No caverns this year, was a tough decision but being a bonnaroo headliner is an amazing opportunity i can’t pass up and i need to give my full attention to delivering the best show possible there,” Summit wrote on X.

However, in a later tweet, Summit also shared that he and his team are “in the works of finding a new location” for an Experts Only destination event this year.

Organized under the label’s pre-rebrand name, Off The Grid, Summit’s first Caverns Weekender took place as a sold-out doubleheader in 2023, featuring two unique headline sets from the Chicago-hailing artist and serving as a precursor to the label’s now-extensive run of destination events, from the mountains of Vail to the jungles of Tulum.

In 2024, the event expanded to feature performances both below ground in Big Mouth Cave and above ground at The Caverns outdoor amphitheater, along with pop-up sets, big-name special guests, and Experts Only label talent, including appearances from Gorgon City, Of The Trees, Max Styler and more.

Artist-curated takeovers have become a fabric of The Caverns’ success as a dance music destination in recent years. Read EDM Maniac‘s 2023 feature on the venue here.

Summit will be joined at Bonnaroo by his Everything Always partner, Dom Dolla, who is also slated to headline, along with Justice, Sammy Virji, Barry Can’t Swim, Of The Trees, and many more, leading one of the festival’s strongest EDM rosters in recent memory. Bonnaroo returns to Manchester, Tennessee, from June 12-15.
