Leap day is extra special this year because Kasbo just announced his first album in four years, The Learning of Urgency, will be released on ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective record label on June 7.
With the announcement, Kasbo has also released two new singles to show fans what to expect once the full album drops.
“Atlantis” featuring Shallou and BJOERN and “Drift” are both out today with “Atlantis” boasting a beautiful ballad while “Drift” reflects the more emotional, instrumental side of Kasbo.
Both singles are meant to showcase Kasbo’s newfound curiosity and introspection that developed during the COVID-19 pandemic and his time spent away from touring while looking back on nostalgic memories.
Kasbo spoke about the new work saying, “My new album is inspired by the feeling of being submerged in water. Underwater, the world moves slowly, sounds fade, and there’s this feeling of stillness. To me, there was this direct relation to being on a stormy ocean surface, trying desperately to keep your head above water.”
He continued, “Whereas the world beneath the surface represented this stillness where you allowed yourself to move at a slower pace and appreciate the beauty of things around you. As much as you need to move forward and build something in life, you also need to swim up to the surface and take that next breath.”
“Atlantis” and “Drift” showcase a new direction for Kasbo, focusing on euphoric club sounds, and mark the beginning of a new era for the Swedish producer.
