Lane 8 has released his first song of 2023, a 10-minute long ID heard at many of his sets entitled “Woman.”
“Women” is deep and soft, an endless track of smooth, chopped-up vocals and ambient energy. Many who have seen his sets this year will recognize the subtle note change and emotive melody that lulls the audience into a trance.
Speaking about the track on his social media, Lane 8 said, “I had a very simple version of the main melody plotted out, and I grabbed one note intending to raise it by an octave, but my fingers fumbled on the keyboard and instead I raised it by one note. Right away it transformed the melody in a unique way, and I realized the key to the track was to keep the melody evolving and changing throughout the course of the entire arrangement.”
He continued, “I never set out to make a 10-minute song, but the song took me in that direction once I realized the almost endless possibilities I could go in.”
Recently Lane 8 announced that the three This Never Happened Summer Gatherings will be his only US shows in 2023. They will take place in New York, San Francisco, and Denver, closing out with a two-hour set from the label boss himself.
These outdoor events do not allow recording so attendees remain present and in the moment.
Just announced artist support for the Summer Gatherings include Jerro, OCULA, Le Youth, and Sultan + Shepard.
