Italian melodic techno duo and brothers, Mathame are here to make a significant impact in the electronic music scene with the release of their highly-anticipated debut album, MEMO, out now on Astralwerks.
MEMO showcases Mathame’s unique fusion of intricate synth melodies, pulsating trance rhythms, and haunting vocals, resulting in mesmerizing and ethereal soundscapes.
Striking a perfect balance between tracks designed for the dance floor and intimate listening experiences, it serves as a sonic diary, chronicling the last three years of Mathame’s journey as touring DJs, capturing their memories and emotions pre and post-pandemic.
Throughout the year, the duo has been teasing the narrative arc of the album through a series of releases. Notable tracks include their monumental collaboration with Tiësto titled “Feel Your Ghost,” which reached #22 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Chart, the pulsating club anthem “To Hope,” the emotionally charged “Come For You,” and the dark and atmospheric “So What.”
Mathame’s musical journey is deeply rooted in their unique backgrounds. Growing up at the base of the isolated Mt Etna volcano in Sicily, the brothers had a dramatic geographic upbringing.
Before forming Mathame, one brother pursued a career as a classical violinist while the other achieved acclaim as an award-winning film director. This diverse background has shaped Mathame’s distinctive sound and led them to pioneer the genre known as “cinematic techno.”
