The dance music community is rejoicing today, as Michael Bibi has announced that he has left the hospital cancer free.
Just a few hours ago, the UK house DJ and Solid Grooves label boss announced the news on Instagram, alongside snapshots of happy hugs with his medical team, writing, “After 6 months of fighting I leave hospital officially in remission with no cancer in my body.”
“To every person that sent me the support, energy & strength to fight, I thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he continued. “I’m still very tired, I’m on a lot of meds, my body hurts & my hairs all gone… but I’m excited to get home, process, heal & prepare for the future with you all.”
Back in June, Bibi announced his diagnosis with CNS lymphoma, a rare form of cancer that impacts the brain and spine.
The beloved artist would miss out on shows for the “forseeable future,” but during a brief release from the hospital after completing the main portion of his treatment, Bibi surprised fans with an emotional return to the decks at DC10 Ibiza just in time for Solid Grooves’ closing party in September.
Providing updates on social media throughout, Bibi’s very public battle with cancer was met with immense support from friends, family, fans, and fellow DJs around the world.
This time around, however, the get-well messages from high-profile artists like Martin Garrix, Diplo, Mochakk, and Bibi’s close friend PAWSA have been swapped for celebratory congratulations.
