Nala Launches Femme-Dominate Label Mi Domina With ‘Get Familiar’ EP

The underground producer and vocalist Nala, recognized by her EP with Claude VonStroke entitled  Everything is Burning, launched her own femme-dominated Mi Domina label with a three-track EP, Get Familiar. The name of the label, Mi Domina, is an homage to Nala’s Italian heritage and femdom culture where women are in charge.

The EP is a joint project with fellow Dirtybird collaborator E.R.N.E.S.T.O., a Miami-based DJ and producer known for his unique blend of ghetto house and electro.

Nala said about the project, “I’ve made it a philosophy to only work with artists who have a track record of being respectful to others, especially women, and I’m really honored to be able to work with E.R.N.E.S.T.O, share his talent, and vouch for his character.”

Get Familiar is minimal but intriguing, with 80s-style synths and Nala’s signature vocals. “God Complex” has a quiet and playful nature likened to her Dirtybird roots. “Get Familiar” is more driving and hard-hitting with a techno-influenced beat. The “Get Familiar” Acid Mix, in contrast, leans tech-house.

The underground scene shaped Nala’s sound, best known for its analog synthesizers and 90s punk vocals. She recently made her return to Ultra Music Festival and played her first set at Electric Forest earlier this year. Her ‘Get Familiar’ Summer Tour will continue at festivals Electric Zoo, iii Points, Holy Ship! Wrecked, Dirtybird Campout, and Shambhala.
