On Thursday, April 20, 2023, it will officially have been five years since the dance music community was shaken to its core by the passing of cultural icon that is Avicii.
And to honor the beloved Swedish DJ and producer, Tomorrowland’s One World Radio will be dedicating the entire day to playing his tracks in addition to broadcasting his mainstage set from Tomorrowland 2015.
This was the last time the headliner and festival staple performed on the Belgian stage.
Avicii retired in 2016 and footage from his final performance at Ushuaïa Ibiza recently resurfaced, giving the final look into Avicii’s performance life before ultimately losing his battle with mental health at the age of 28.
Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, was one of the first DJs to bring EDM and electronic music to the American mainstream, making his Tomorrowland debut in 2011, the same year he dropped “Levels” and changed the course of music history forever.
It was also on the same day he dropped “Levels,” on October 28, that he performed at Petco Park with deadmau5 and Feed Me, marking a historic day in music and Southern California history.
His greatest hits like “Wake Me Up,” “Waiting For Love,” and “Hey Brother” were paramount in introducing many young ravers to the positive sound of dance music and creating a community for many who felt they didn’t belong.
You can watch Avicii’s final Tomorrowland set below and listen to Tomorrowland’s One World Radio tribute to Avicii beginning at 18:00 CEST, here.
