Primavera Sound festival is adding a new location to its growing list of worldwide destinations, bringing a debut event to Lima, Peru this fall.
“Road To Primavera” in Lima will kick off on November 22, 2023, with three more dates set for December 2, 7, and 8. This new edition joins Primavera Sound events in cities like Barcelona, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, and Bogotá.
Primavera Sound’s move to the Pacific Coast of South America will not technically be a festival, but rather a series of concerts that will “expand the impact” of the four lineups that will feature at festivals in Buenos Aires, São Paulo, and Bogotá, as well as Primavera Day in Asunción, Paraguay.
The Cure will headline the Lima event on November 22, followed by performances from Bad Gyal on December 2, Pet Shop Boys on December 7, and Bad Religion on December 8.
Primavera Sound shared the news on Instagram earlier this month writing (translated from Spanish), “All roads lead us to Primavera Sound and this time it was Peru! Enjoy the Road to Spring with unforgettable concerts. More ticket sale info coming soon.”
The announcement follows another Primavera Sound expansion earlier this summer. The festival held its first edition in Madrid, bringing a mirrored lineup to the Spanish capital one week removed from the festival’s cornerstone edition in Barcelona.
The Madrid festival—which was headlined by Kendrick Lamar, Calvin Harris, Fred again.., Skrillex and more—experienced a number of challenges due to poor weather and the venue’s isolated location.
Day one was canceled after heavy rain hit Primavera Sound’s Ciudad del Rock venue in Arganda del Rey. Citing these difficulties last month, organizers announced that Primavera Sound will not be returning to Madrid in 2024.
