EDM Maniac Interview: Project 46

EDM Maniac recently sat down with Project 46, a duo who’s impact is making waves right now in the Progressive House scene. It’s almost indescribable the year that Ryan and Thomas have had.

From skyrocketing to the top of the charts with “Reasons” with vocals by Andrew Allen, to  currently touring on Morgan Page’s 3D bus tour, the duo most recently worked on a track titled “Last Chance” with Kaskade off his new record “Atmosphere.”  “Last Chance” is quickly becoming one of the most talked about and listened to tracks off Kaskade’s new album.  With releases on SPINNIN, to coming in at #100 on the most recent Top 100 DJs list, Project 46 is a genuine breathe of fresh air and their excitement and energy is one to be matched.

Their current single “Motionless” feat. Seri is now available on Beatport. Our full interview and thanks to Project 46 for taking the time for our interview. We’re really excited to see what’s in store for them for the rest of the year and next. If it’s anything like this year, they’re seriously going to be the ones to look out for (if you don’t know them already).

Q: It has been amazing year for you guys. Any highlights?

The whole year has been a highlight to be quite honest. It’s been an amazing ride, but one thing that was super special was when we closed our set with ‘Last Chance’ in Los Angeles on the Morgan Page tour. We filtered down the track and had the whole crowd singing it. That was a surreal feeling.

Q: What has it been like on this journey?

It’s been crazy busy. If we aren’t in the studio we’re on the road, and if we’re not on the road we’re trying to find time to spend with family and friends. I think it would probably feel a bit overwhelming if we weren’t this busy.

Q: What are some of your favorite cities to play in? Any specific venues?

Impossible question to answer. There are so many amazing shows! If I had to pick one it would be Escapade in Ottawa. We played in front of thousands of people on Canada Day for our fellow Canadians after Above & Beyond and before Steve Angello. That is hard to top.

Q: Favorite show memory?

Again, has to be filtering down ‘Last Chance’ in Los Angeles and having the crowd sing it. Almost brought tears to our eyes!

Q: What was it like working with Kaskade on “Last Chance?”

I mean, it’s Kaskade. So yeah, not much more needs to be said! He has been an inspiration to us since day one and we can’t thank him enough for believing in our music enough to work with us. He changed our career and our lives forever.

Q: You’re currently on tour with Morgan Page, can you tell us what this has been like?

It’s just started, but the first 4 shows have been great. Morgan and Walden have been a lot of fun to be around and I think we are all learning a lot from each other.

Q: Any advice for aspiring DJs/producers?

Sounds so cliché but never give up. Work hard and focus on improving your sound, but more importantly, engage and care about your fans. The team you work with is also important, your Label, Manager, Marketing team, Agent and so on. When you’re at the stage where you need to bring the above people on, make sure you don’t settle for the first offer you get. Picking the right team is so important.

Q: Whats one thing you know now, that you wish you knew back then?

There’s just so much, but I think it’s important to work closely with other developing artists at your level. Friends support friends and everyone can always use more support!
