Techno Legend Richie Hawtin Will Spotlight Next-Gen Talent At “From Our Minds” Show In NYC

Detroit techno visionary Richie Hawtin is bringing his “From Our Minds” tour to New York City for another stop this fall.

The standalone gig will take place at the Queens’ cross-disciplinary venue, Knockdown Center, on October 21, 2023, as a “flagship moment” for the high-brow producer’s live experience, highlighting “next-generation techno talent in one of America’s nightlife capitals.”

For the NYC “From Our Minds” show, Hawtin has partnered with an independent venue, promoter, and talent that is “committed to honoring the legacy of techno while moving the genre forward.”

Hawtin will be joined by a number of rising producers and DJs from across the country, including Dallas-based artist Declan James, deep techno producer Decoder, budding Detroit spinner Huey Mnemonic, and many more.

The “From Our Minds” tour made its debut in Detroit in March, before making its way to sold-out warehouses in cities like Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and more.

The shows evoked a strong spirit of the underground scene, with a strict no-photo or video policy and one-of-a-kind sets at each stop.

From Our Minds is an evolution of Hawtin’s 2012 and 2015 CNTRL tours, which provided performances, lectures, and workshops on college campuses, in addition to immersive live shows.

The From Our Minds tour takes its ethos from the slogan of Hawtin’s 90s label imprint Plus 8: “From Our Minds To Yours”—drawing strong connections to the early days of techno.

With this next evolution, Hawtin continues to nurture the underground by playing venues that are special to him and spotlighting the next wave of techno artists, as well as the genre’s cross-generational nature.
