RÜFÜS DU SOL have announced a special homecoming show at Australia’s iconic Sydney Harbor to launch their new album, Inhale / Exhale.
The Grammy-winning electronic trio will deliver a one-off live performance at sunset on Thursday, October 10, the evening before their fifth studio LP is scheduled to drop. The intimate show will take place on the Fleet Steps of Mrs. Macquaries Point, a peninsula that juts out into the harbor and offers picturesque views of the famous Sydney Opera House across the bay.
Inhale / Exhale is set to arrive on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s own Rose Avenue label in partnership with Reprise Records on October 11 and will mark the group’s first full-length album since 2021’s Surrender, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album and featured the Grammy-winning single, “Alive.”
Critical acclaim is beginning to roll in for Inhale / Exhale too, as last month RÜFÜS DU SOL earned nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Release for the album’s lead single “Music Is Better” and Best Video for its second single “Lately,” in addition to nods for Best Group and Best Australian Live Act at the 2024 ARIA Awards, the Australian recording industry’s highest annual honors.
The new album is said to represent “a new creative groove for the band,” with members Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George, and James Hunt focusing on the organic processes of “creating from the now” while upholding the themes of romance, heartbreak, euphoria, and despair that have permeated their music and captivated listeners for over a decade, according to a press release. Following a busy summer of surprise DJ sets at events like Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, and Burning Man, RÜFÜS DU SOL headlined San Francisco’s Portola Music Festival last weekend, debuting new music from the forthcoming project at their only U.S. live show performance of the year.
In 2025, they’ll be the sole electronic headliner at all three South American editions of Lollapalooza. RÜFÜS DU SOL are yet to announce any other upcoming tour dates, but they’ve launched a cryptic countdown clock on their official website, hinting at more live shows to come. Fans can expect some sort of announcement when the clock hits zero at 9:30PM ET on October 15.
