Seth Troxler, one of electronic music’s most recognizable and well-respected artists, is launching a new label: Slacker 85.
With a clearly defined vision centered around Troxler’s beautifully liminal life experience, Slacker 85 will take shape as a music imprint and lifestyle brand that brings together art, apparel, and of course good tunes.
In a statement on the label launch, Troxler said:
“Welcome, the playground is open. This is my latest fantasy – and my new label. My swan song, my legacy act. I’ve never had a label just for me. All my ideas, no filter. No compromise. I’m sick of cool, of posture.”
He continued, “I wanted to make something that represented me, you and everyone I know. The anti-hero, the kids who could have done it but didn’t care to try. The slacker. And believe me, it’s going to get weird. A channel into my strange, dark and bizarre mind. Join me.”
Accompanying the launch, Troxler has dropped “Pills,” a new single from the imprint’s inaugural SLACKER001 EP, soon to be joined by the diverse sounds of Jackmaster, Ghoulish, and Cesar Merveille.
The futuristic acid track has become a highlight of Troxler’s well-crafted sets in the last year. Remaining tracks from the new EP will be released on Slacker 85 over the next few weeks and a sizable release schedule of singles, EPs, and albums is also on the way soon.
